Rheo Parnell is a girl on a mission. She tells Hologram about a busy year ahead of fundraising and fashion
Update: On the 26th March Rheo won the title Miss Coventry and Warwickshire. Here is our story in the week running up to the contest.
At just 17 Rheo Parnell has already won a crown and sash, been the face of a fashion brand, recorded solo songs, and performed as part of a group of young singers around the county. Ever tireless, her sights are now set on the title of Miss Coventry and Warwickshire, and the world stage.
Before qualifying for The Miss Coventry and Warwickshire Final 2016, Rheo Parnell won the title of Junior Miss Rugby in 2015, and as such, has been introduced to many opportunities locally and particularly the fundraising endeavours of the Miss England organization; which is in contrast to the superficial glamour that can be associated with some competitions.
As a talented singer and songwriter, Rheo has decided to use her abilities in the quest to raise funds and awareness for the chosen charity; with a variety of fundraising events.
She plans to host a Fashion Show with a vocal group that she helps support, with the members featuring as models! “The Invisible Friends” are a vocal group, all suffering from life limiting illnesses. Rheo’s sponsor Boo Couture Ltd have agreed to loan their designer collection for the occasion. > boo-couture.co.uk
The proceeds will go to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Beauty with a Purpose.
In addition to studying Music and English literature at a specialist performing arts academy in Birmingham, Rheo works part-time as a bar person and gigs throughout the Warwickshire area.
This busy teenager also plans to release a song with a strong message, highlighting the importance of humanity with our World; helping The Miss England Organisation further in their quest of raising Global Awareness.
As a member of Big Help Management Academy, an independent record label based in Rugby; Rheo is being guided and supported to ensure that this mission reaches fruition. > www.bighelp
Determined to make a difference to others, Rheo said “I see this competition as an opportunity to raise awareness for children, with fewer advantages and opportunities than those that I have been given.
“We have an enormous amount of fun during these competitions, the girls are all amazing, we have formed a very close bond of friendship and support each other.” “ I think this is why, as part of the “Miss England Team”, we have been so successful in raising over £700,000.00 in the last five years, for deprived and impoverished children in England.”
“I am very proud to say that I have played a part in that, and will continue to do so”
“I realize that at just 17 I still have a lot to learn, but where better to do so, than representing the Nation on The World Stage!”.
Rheo will be appearing in Miss Coventry and Warwickshire final on Saturday 26th March at Bedworth Liberal Club.
The winner of this event then goes through to the Miss England final on 21st and 22nd July in Southport.
