The Alexandra Arms pub in James Street was the scene of hairy mayhem, as beards and moustaches from afar as Luton, Oxford and Nottingham, came to Rugby to proclaim themselves the finest facial fuzz in the town. There were many categories the contestants could enter, from Freestyle, to Ladies and Children.

Organising the event was Beard Club, the town’s very own group of devoted men and women who are passionate about growing, nurturing, and applauding beard growth. Formed a couple of years ago by Lee Andrews, the group took off with the help of ¬†local barber Matt Robinson, and some of Matt’s customers. The group on Facebook meet in the virtual world, and its events like this, their first beard competition, which brings them together in the real world too.

The competition raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, and as soon as we know the total we’ll print it here.

In the meantime, behold the gallery of images by Jamie Gray who captured the fine facial fuzz in all its glory.
